USE NOSTALGIA TO CREATE AN EVENING OF A LIFETIME

You know times when you feel incredibly romantic and don’t know how to show it? There is a simple way you can turn the most ordinary evening into a special one. Just tell your partner everything that you ever wanted to say, but didn’t for some reason or the other.

There are so many times when a compliment is on the tip of your tongue but goes unsaid, or the deepest and most tender of feelings are not communicated. Sometimes we are too busy, sometimes the person we want to tell our feelings is not with us, at other times it’s difficult to find the right words. Sometimes we just don’t break the silence because we want to enjoy the moment completely and loose ourselves in it. But these moments and those unsaid expressions stay with us. And because you didn’t say it at that time, doesn’t mean you can’t say it now. These expressions are all you need to get the evening going and make it one of the most memorable of your life.

Tell her how pretty she looked in that green dress she wore to a friend’s wedding last year, or about that one time when a thoughtful remark or gesture just transformed your day a few months ago. How just lying on the grass, gazing up at the sky when you were both drunk after your fourth date was such a blissful experience. It doesn’t all have to be happy moments. Even a tragic experience where your partner became your strength or helped you get through a difficult time can be a reason for your appreciation which may find expression in happier times. This way little incidents that may otherwise be forgotten, become immortal. Times that you’ve lived through and left behind on the highway of lived can be lived again, bringing a more mellow happiness.

All of us reminisce, the key is to do it together. That way you not only reopen shared chapters in your relationship, but also join your memories with the other person’s. And all it takes is one single experience that you want to relive, or a single compliment that you couldn’t find time for, to set a stream of memories flowing. Few of us wear out heart on our sleeves, and rarely do we pour our heart out, relating to the person we love each every heartbeat of ours, but a little bit of nostalgia can do a relationship a world of good from time to time.

Just try it and see.
