For most of us, dreams come true in our lives without us noticing it. The love we dreamed of, the moments we imagined, the magic that we craved for, it is all there waiting for us to wave a magic wand and make it happen, it is we who neglect the wand. When we are young, there are a thousand things we dream of, little things that make up the essence of love and life. Yet when we grow up, we let our dreams gather dust, just because we are too lazy, or we loose faith in our power to be happy and bring happiness into our lives.
Sure, all of us have big aims that we need to work hard for, somewhere we need to reach. But the journey is littered with small destinations where a stay can be so rejuvenating, if only we let ourselves soak in the moment. When we look back, there are some milestones that stand out in our memories, marriage, children, a big anniversary party and so on. But the happiness each day brings is lost somewhere like sand trickling through your fingers.
And because our sight is fixed on larger goals, little longings are left unfulfilled. Even while partners crib about not spending time with each other, they are letting those precious minutes together go waste while they air their grievances, which could become so special if only they were lived together in the real of the word. Going home together after work can be a romantic drive if put in the right perspective. Doing chores together, just lying next to each other without saying a word, can be special everyday events if you wish it.
Then there are weekend getaways that we keep putting off, interesting activities that we could engage in to spend time with each other. Why is it that we plan a glorious future with our partners, children and loved ones after retirement? Most of the peace and contentment, and love’s little labours that we dream of don’t depend on that penthouse or vacation home that we plan to buy after 30 years of hard work. A day’s hard work entitles us to these joys that are just a touch or a thought away.
In every nook and cranny, in the crevices of time, our dreams lie timidly waiting for us to cast a glance and turn them into reality. It is up to us to want to make them come true. That’s all it takes.
